Yo la Tengo lleva años en la escena musical situandose como referentes del indie rock, el nombre proviene de una anécdota del baseball. Durante la temporada del año 1962, el jugador de los New York Mets, Richie Ashburn chocaba constantemente con su compañero venezolano Elio Chacón. Cada vez que Ashburn corría para atrapar la pelota, lo hacía gritando «I got it! I got it!» sólo para terminar chocando con los 73 kilos de Chacón que no entendía inglés. Ashburn, aburrido, aprendió a decir «¡Yo la tengo! ¡Yo la tengo!». En un juego, tras gritar «¡Yo la tengo!» vio feliz como su compañero Chacón se detenía. Corrió tranquilamente a detener la bola cuando chocó con los 91 kilos de su compañero Frank Thomas, quien no hablaba español. Tras esto, Thomas le preguntó a Ashburn qué significaba «Yellow Tango».
En 2006 sacan su ultimo disco, ya consagrados como uno de los grandes del indie.

Donavon Frankenreiter conocido surfista y gran amigo de Jack Johnson, Debuta con este disco que solo lleva por nombre "Donavon Frankenreiter", el sonido es parecido al de Johnson, pero Frankenreiter le imprime su sello caracteristico.
Un disco que gustara a todos los seguidores de Johnson y del surf rock.

Jon brion debuta como solista con "Meaningless", conocido compositor, el cerebro detras de la musica de Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind , I (heart) Huckabees y Magnolia,este disco deja en claro que Brion tiene un talento enorme y nos hace preguntar por que no canto antes.
"Meaningless" parte con fuerza con la cancion "gotta start somewhere" y lo que sigue de disco posee la misma calidad. Un imperdible para ver esta nueva faceta de Brion.
